Level 2

Level 2 - Educational Kinesiology Consultant Training Programme

What does the training qualify me to do?

f you would like to work one-to-one with individual clients and deliver talks and short seminars on Brain Gym®, then becoming an Educational Kinesiology Consultant is a natural next step. With the Brain Gym Movement Facilitator training under your belt, further modules of the programme bring a deeper understanding of the Edu-K approach beyond Brain Gym and greatly extend the techniques at your disposal.

This progression in training opens the door to the professional use of the unique and potent Edu-K goal achievement process, which is at the heart of the optimal effectiveness of the Brain Gym and Edu-K physical activities. Whether working with small groups, large teams or helping individuals towards in-depth self-development, the power of the simple, structured goal achievement process can be profound. As an Educational Kinesiology Consultant you will learn many Edu-K activities and strategies beyond the Brain Gym programme. These will give you a flexible and multi-dimensional professional – and personal – resource to foster individual growth. You will also be able to deliver short Brain Gym trainings in settings of your choice, confident that these are backed up by an extensive experience and knowledge of the Edu-K approach and programme.

From becoming a Consultant, it is only a short step to being qualified to teach the Brain Gym 101 course, upon completion of the Brain Gym 101 Graduate Mentoring programme.

Optimal Brain Organisation

What will I learn on the course?

The course curriculum builds on the activities and procedures of the Brain Gym 101 course. Optimal Brain Organisation takes you on a journey into sensory preferences, information processing styles and how these affect your everyday life, skills, choices and challenges. Find out how your preferred eye, ear, hand, foot and information processing style shape how you express yourself, your natural gifts and those activities which may cause you stress. The simple and profound techniques learnt on this course are a life-changing opportunity to making the best use of what you have to offer in every area of daily existence. Above all, this course brings understanding and increased awareness of a fascinating aspect of what makes you – and others – “tick”, so that each individual’s unique potential can be understood and developed.

The activities

  • An additional 9 movement activities to complement those learnt on the Brain Gym foundation course
  • Further understanding of the Edu-K activities related to inner and outer organisation skills
  • How these activities relate to the core objectives of the course
  • The effects of the individual activities on performance, posture, attitude and movement
  • How the activities help to approach challenges from a resourceful, integrated state
  • Developing confidence and creativity in using the activities with a wide range of abilities

The concepts

  • The positive effect on all aspects of daily life of smooth synchronisation between our eyes, ears, hands, ability to move and processing of sensory information
  • Noticing when we have an integrated sensory profile – or not – in different situations is a key to accessing  more resourceful states
  • The beneficial effect of releasing stress on accessing our inner resources and capacity to make good choices
  • Awareness and respect for our sensory preferences can increase understanding of our own and other’s behaviour
  • The model of the 3 dimensions of learning – the synthesis of sensing, feeling and thinking – can provide links and insight into our sensory profiles
  • Understanding the significance of our own sensory preferences can make us more successful in dealing with other people’s behaviour, encouraging their skills and appreciating their attitudes

The techniques

  • The goal setting technique and achievement process (‘balance’) learnt in Brain Gym 101 is further enhanced by incorporating our sensory profiles for chosen activities and situations
  • How to experience your own sensory profile and draw out personal meaning and insight from it
  • Understanding the effect of stress on your natural gifts and challenges, based on your sensory profile
  • Practice in helping others to explore, understand and benefit from their sensory gifts and challenges
  • How to use the Edu-K techniques and activities to engage with daily life experiences with the best possible integration of our senses
  • How to shape your work, relationships and communication with others to take account of different personal sensory preferences and encourage response rather than reaction

After the course

You will receive a Letter of Attendance from your Brain Gym Instructor on completion of the full class hours. If you are training to a professional level qualification (such as Brain Gym Movement Facilitator), case studies must be completed as part of your training track. Your Brain Gym Instructor will support you in this process and evaluate your case study experience as part of the learning process. Completion of the case studies entitles you to a Certificate of Completion which states that you have satisfactorily completed all the course requirements. This Certificate is valid for four years, should you wish to continue training in the future.

Who teaches the course

The course is taught by qualified Optimal Brain Organisation Instructors. They are independent trainers who have met the required training standard of being qualified Brain Gym 101 Instructors prior to completing an Advanced Instructor Training in Optimal Brain Organisation. Optimal Brain Organisation Instructors are required to be current and updated professional members of the Educational Kinesiology Trust.

Touch for Health

What will I learn on the course?

The foundation for many different kinesiology modalities, Touch for Health provides the ‘nuts and bolts’ of kinesiology training, enabling you to explore how thoughts manifest in the body and affect daily life functioning. Experience how the programme has adapted techniques from older and holistic approaches to wellbeing to evolve into a fully contemporary self-development programme. You will learn to use muscle response monitoring with confidence so that you can move forward to greater physical, emotional and structural integration in your life.

The first module offers the basics of monitoring feedback from muscles and techniques for balancing the body. The second module expands the repertoire of muscles used and adds techniques for bringing greater integration and wellness into everyday life. Together they deepen your awareness of how thoughts and emotions affect the body and offer simple ways of defusing negative effects and unhelpful patterns.

The activities

  • How to set goals and notice the effect on your body
  • Choose the most beneficial physical techniques to create the optimal resources to achieve your goals
  • Learn gentle physical ways of identifying and reducing stress responses to challenges in your life
  • How to move out of your comfort zone supported by your thinking, energy and physical structure
  • Explore the effects of physically contacting key pathways and points on the body to encourage a sense of balance and harmony

The concepts

  • A balanced body and mind are the foundations of a happy, fulfilled life and an increased feeling of wellbeing
  • The importance of directing your attention and intention to positive goals when you want to make changes of any kind
  • The interrelationship of all systems within the body
  • How the Chinese model of maintaining a flow and balance of energy within the body can illuminate contemporary issues and challenges
  • Changes in beliefs, attitudes and intention bring observable changes in the body and vice versa, as the body and the mind are one interlinked feedback loop
  • Touch for Health can empower individuals to take responsibility for their own condition, life and outlook

The techniques

  • Discover and develop your natural ability to support change in others
  • Broaden the goal setting techniques you learnt in your previous Edu-K training
  • Increase your choice of techniques to alleviate emotional and physical discomfort through a related and yet distinct model
  • Develop awareness of those environments – human or lifestyle – that support your well-being
  • Expand, refine and fine tune your ability to use the body and muscle responses as useful feedback towards a positive daily life in harmony with your unique individuality
  • Explore and experience a fascinating set of techniques in a learning environment where you will be the judge of their efficacy

After the course

On completion of the full class hours, an International Kinesiology College Certificate of Attendance will be given to you by your instructor. You will need to complete 12 case studies to complete this part of the Edu-K Professional Training.

Who teaches the course

Touch for Health is taught by Instructors registered with the International Kinesiology Collge, who will have completed the required training to teach TFH and issue certificates. Your Touch for Health Instructor can be an Edu-K Professional who is qualified to teach Touch for Health or an outside qualified TFH Instructor.

Optional further training in Touch for Health

Students attending TFH modules 1 & 2 have the further voluntary option of transforming this two module training into the completion of a Foundation Kinesiology qualification. You can do this by taking an assessment (4½ hours assessment, 2 hours multiple choice paper, 2 hours observed balance, ½ hour interview). You then have the choice of building on this by attending 3 more Touch for Health courses (modules 3-5, plus case studies) and taking another Touch for Health assessment. On completion of this, you would become Touch for Health Proficient. For further information, contact a qualified Touch for Health Instructor.

Educational Kinesiology In-Depth: 7 Dimensions of Intelligence

What will I learn on the course?

Explore and experience seven dimensions of innate intelligence – behaviour, motivation, physical reflexes, focus, posture, self-expression and self-management. Learn how they can become natural resources when integrated into our functioning being, supporting personal development. The extensive and profound techniques and activities learnt on the course are solidly grounded in movement and posture. Experience how they can become powerful triggers for positive change and managing challenges. This course prepares you to work one to one with others, greatly expands the techniques in your toolkit and hones and extends your skills in using the Edu-K goal setting process. The training is delivered by Faculty members, who are senior Edu-K Instructors.

The activities

  • A substantial number of new movement activities covering a broad range of gentle, physical techniques
  • Integrate the new activities with those you have already learnt to extend your repertoire seamlessly
  • Discover four new groupings of these activities to improve your potential in the areas of:
    • posture and movement
    • behaviour and emotion
    • personal ecology and self-management
    • inner balance and calm
  • Supervised evening practice sessions offer the opportunity to the day’s learning into practice, for an optimal hands on learning experience
  • Learn the activities and techniques by working on your own goals to develop maximum understanding when facilitating others
  • A fascinating and in depth insight into the advantages of grounding change and learning in your physiology and movement

The concepts

  • The Seven Dimensions process offers a wholly individualised set of opportunities for change to each person rather than one specific set of solutions to any given challenge
  • The highest priority is given to each individual’s development of their own system of self-structured learning
  • Facilitator and client approach every shared session as being a teachable moment where anything is possible
  • The facilitator’s role is to provide an environment in which new experience can take place rather than offering a methodology
  • Each change process is based on the integration of physical and developmental skills with emotional needs and rational goals
  • The activities and techniques of the In Depth programme can be adapted for any level of skill, wellbeing and function
  •

The techniques

  • How to draw out awareness of where the blocks to moving forward may be held in the body
  • Encouraging self-education through making links between behaviour, function and physiology
  • Teaching simple body feedback techniques as a guide to the priority areas in which progress is needed
  • Encouraging self-reliance in choosing activities to release stress responses to challenges
  • Using Edu-K processes and activities with creativity and spontaneity, in tandem with a structured system
  • Guiding clients through a process of self-actualising change whilst respecting their innate intelligence to know what is needed, to self-direct, to make choices and to find meaning in their chosen goals

After the course

You will receive a Letter of Attendance from your Faculty Instructor on completion of the full class hours. The next step is to complete the designated post-course case studies. Your Faculty Instructor will support you in this process and evaluate your case study experience as part of the learning process. To complete the post-course curriculum, you also need to take a written test that can be completed in your own time and online. The aim is to help you to evaluate your understanding of the concepts and practice you explored in the Seven Dimensions course. Satisfactory completion of the case studies and the test entitles you to a Certificate of Completion, which states that you have fully completed the course requirements. This Certificate is valid for four years, should you wish to continue training in the future.
